Water purifying firm, Nanotech Solutions has started installing equipment to upgrade the Morton Jaffray Water Treatment Plant so that it can use alternative, cost-efficient water treatment chemicals.
The company which is set to bring technology and expertise expected to improve the city’s supply of potable water yesterday also delivered an initial contingent of chemicals.
In an interview the city’s installation and maintenance manager, Engineer Edmore Chawasemerwa, confirmed the development.
Reduction in chemical usage is expected with the use of the alternative water treatment technology.
Nanotech Solutions is currently implementing such systems in Mozambique, South-Africa and Botswana
Nanotech operations manager Mr Gideon Reyneke is on record saying, “We will upgrade the plant with disinfection and manufacturing answers, long term we will start addressing capacity at Morton Jaffray to increase it and look at reticulation to ensure that we are able to address the questions we have,” he said.
The Nanotech Solutions deal for alternative water chemicals will save the City more than US$300 000 per month.
