Sunningdale District has embarked on a cleaning up programme supporting “Operation Chenesa Harare” launched by Mayor Mafume last week.
Sunningdale District has embarked on a cleaning up programme supporting “Operation Chenesa Harare” launched by Mayor Mafume last week.
Sunningdale district officer Shelter Chikomo which encompasses Ward 2 and Ward 10 said following the launch of Operation Chenesa Harare they have managed to establish a programme that supports the operation.
"As Sunningdale District, we have since started the programme by engaging the community volunteers who showed interest to assist us in cleaning their area. We have started by cleaning the streets around the District while we were waiting for the heavy equipment to clear our dumpsites", said the district officer.
"We have also engaged the business fraternity and some of the stakeholders have compiled and have offered to give us machinery to clear the illegal dumps,” said Shelter Chikomo.
Shelter Chikomo said that some of the stakeholders have offered them grass cutters for grass cutting.
"The Advertising Industries represented by Marcia Shumba and Marble Zhanje handed over three brooms and 400 bins for Chenesa Harare .
The grass cutters were donated by Mr Baker of Metro Peech.
Friendly Environmental Services has pledged to clear some dumpsites.
