The City of Harare has welcomed the opening of another Powersales outlet at Angwa City Mall in the Central Business District (CBD), marking a significant milestone in the retail giant’s return and expansion in Zimbabwe.

The City of Harare has welcomed the opening of another Powersales outlet at Angwa City Mall in the Central Business District (CBD), marking a significant milestone in the retail giant’s return and expansion in Zimbabwe. The official opening of the new branch signals renewed business confidence, growth and optimism in the country’s retail sector, while reinforcing the importance of private sector investment in driving economic development. In a speech read on his behalf by Business Committee Chairperson Cllr Rufaro Matsika, Mayor Cllr Jacob Mafume said the opening of the Angwa City Mall outlet demonstrated the continued growth and expansion of the Powersales brand. “The Angwa City Mall outlet becomes the eighth Powersales branch to open since the brand’s return. It is also the first stand alone Powersales store, marking an exciting new chapter in the company’s expansion journey,” said Mayor Mafume. He highlighted the importance of local business growth in stimulating economic activity, creating employment and strengthening the city’s commercial landscape. “When businesses invest, expand and establish new outlets, they contribute to commercial activity, create employment opportunities and support a wider network of suppliers and service providers,” he said. The Mayor reaffirmed the City’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, particularly within the CBD, which remains a key commercial and economic hub. “As the City of Harare, we welcome investments that contribute to the vibrancy of our Central Business District. The CBD remains an important commercial hub, and we encourage businesses to continue investing in the city centre, attracting customers and helping to strengthen its position as a destination for shopping, trade and enterprise,” he said. The return and expansion of Powersales is also expected to widen access to affordable clothing and footwear for residents catering for the needs of the entire family, from babies and children to adults. Mayor Mafume noted that affordability and quality remain important considerations for consumers in the prevailing economic environment. “In the current economic environment, access to affordable, quality products is important to many households. Retailers that understand their customers and offer value for money play a meaningful role in meeting these everyday needs,” he added. He encouraged Powersales management and staff to uphold high standards of customer service, product quality and responsible business practices as the company continues on its growth trajectory. The City of Harare remains committed to supporting investments that stimulate economic growth, create employment and enhance the attractiveness Harare as a vibrant centre for commerce and enterprise.
