Mayor Jacob Mafume says council is considering repossessing bus termini it had leased to Zimbabwe Passengers Company (ZUPCO) because the later is failing to remit anything to Council or maintain the termini after the takeover.
Cllr Mafume said the move would bring order to the termini.
"We had surrendered the control of termini to ZUPCO, we are going to reconsider that decision. We are going to repossess our termini. We will allow them to use but we are going to be taking care of the termini so that there's order.
"We are going to put Municipal Police who will be monitoring those who are dumping refuse from their various businesses, We are also going to spruce up," said Mafume
He said when ZUPCO was given the lease they said they were going to be running buses but as it stands the company is failing.
Cllr Mafume all termini are residents’ property and they need maintenance for them to cleaner, safe and user friendly.
He added that taking a look at all the termini in the city, they have no shelter for the residents.
He bemoaned that responsible authorities must not just wake up making announcements but must be done in consultation with relevant departments.
He also bemoaned the striping of Council assets by Government as one of the major challenge affecting service delivery.
