The City of Harare today celebrated Secretaries during Secretaries Day commemorations at the Harare International Conference Centre. Speaking at the colorful event, Deputy Mayor Cllr Rosemary Muronda said no office can be productive without an organised front office. The commemorations, organised by Nedle Training Services were held under the theme “Creating a Motivating and Productive Office Environment,” that Deputy Mayor Muronda commended as timely saying, "Secretaries are the first face and voice clients encounter." The Deputy Mayor highlighted the central role played by Secretaries. “No office is productive if the front office is not organised. "The secretary is the keeper of time, records and secrets,” said Cllr Muronda. She said poor management of registry and correspondence collapses service delivery, and urged respect for the profession. “It is not a junior job; it is a professional career that requires skill, discretion, and emotional intelligence,” she said. Cllr Muronda noted secretaries now manage digital offices and confidential data, commending Nedle Training Services for capacity building. She challenged managers to invest in secretaries saying, “Motivate them. Pay them fairly. Train them. Give them a decent office and tools to work with. You will see productivity triple.” Scores of Secretaries drawn from the public and private sectors nationwide, converged at the HICC for the glamorous event graced by Colonel Miniyothabo Baloyi Chiwenga as Guest of Honour.
