There are now 13 confirmed cholera cases in Harare and 44 suspected as at May 5, 2023.
There are now 13 confirmed cholera cases in Harare and 44 suspected as at May 5, 2023. Dr Michael Vere said four of these reside Budiriro 1 while one is from Dzivarasekwa, seven from Glen View 3 and one from Mt Pleasant Heights. Glen View 3 suburb is now the bigger epicenter compared to Budiriro 1. He added that the case from Mt Pleasant height has been linked to the one in Dzivarasekwa. Glen view 3 and Budiriro 1 cases are not epidemiologically linked. Dzivarasekwa and Mt Pleasant are epidemiologically linked. Public health Interventions The City is strengthening health education in western district and other affected areas. All those with signs and symptoms watery diarrhoea are being referred to the nearest health institution. Health promoters are moving door to door in the affected areas. MSF have committed to assist with the training of City Health Services Department on case management at the hospital and community-based surveillance starting with Western District. Bowsers have been provided. Residents have been advised to treat all water for domestic use, aquatabs and containers were provided.
