First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa has urged residents to support council efforts in refuse management by making sure their immediate environment is clean.
Addressing farmers and vendors at Mbare Farmers Market today Mai Mnangagwa urged vendors to cooperate with Council in its efforts to spruce up the market place.
"Let us work together and make Mbare Musika a better workplace. It is everyone's business to make sure that the Market is clean as this is a place that is often visited by tourists from different nations like India among other countries,” she said.
"I have toured this workplace with Dr Chonzi (Health Services Director), and I noted a few things that need to be looked at. Council on its own cannot perfect everything and it needs support from you as the beneficiaries of the business activities that take place here,” she said.
She urged farmers and vendors to desist from throwing away farm produces like vegetables and preserve them.
"We can benefit a lot from drying up vegetables and making relish mixes to spice up meals. Throwing away rotten farm produces can pollute the environment."
