First Lady Amai Auxilia Mnangagwa has commended the Harare Mayor's Cheer Fund for transforming the lives of the under- priviledged.
She was speaking during a High Tea fundraising programme event held at Harare House today.
"It is pleasing to note that the Mayor's Cheer Fund responds to national disasters such as the recent Cyclone Idai, where they helped mobilise resources for the victims in Manicaland.
"I am also glad to learn that the Mayor's Cheer Fund also runs a scholarship programme.
The fund has produced students who have excelled so well in their studies to become doctors, accountants, economist and engineers," said the First Lady.
Harare Mayoress Lydia Gomba thanked the sponsors for the event.
"We thank you so much for going that extra mile in ensuring that we provide the necessary support to the needy in the society."
Harare Mayor's Cheer Fund Board Chairperson Ms Chipo Mashingaidze said the fund is currently taking care of about fifty-five(55) homes in the City.
She said support from the society is key for them to be able to take care of the needy.
Ecocash merchant code for the fund is 80008 and donations are welcome.
Groceries , swipe and cash can be dropped at the Mayor's office at Town House.
The event was graced by the City's Lady Councillors,Town Clerk's wife, Female Executives and Directors from various organisations.
