Acting Town Clerk Mrs Josephine Ncube says a clean city will ensure the good health of residents and visitors.
Mrs Ncube was speaking during a recent Government initiated Central Business District clean-up programme.
Harare has a vision of becoming a world class city by 2025 and in line with that vision she said residents should not lapse in terms of keeping the environment clean.
The clean-up was meant to drum up awareness towards the environment.
“Cleanliness provides convenience to the public and prevents the spread of diseases through living in a clean environment,” she said.
She said littering was defiling the city’s beauty.
“The clean-up campaign is good motive towards the restoration of Harare’s sunshine city.
“The event is a very good example to the rest of Harare’s residents that they must keep the city clean always,” she said.
