Ward 33 (Budiriro) Councillor Oddrey Chirombe has used proceeds from the 10 percent ward retention scheme to purchase 400 bags of cement for the construction of early childhood class room blocks at all council schools in his ward.
The ECD programme is communally shared.
Cllr Chirombe said the blocks include classrooms and toilets.
“For each school we are having one block with four classrooms. Later on we are going to assist on providing furniture for the ECD at the same schools.
“We are working with Ward Development Committee and we are appealing to well-wishers to come join us so that we can build more affordable schools in the area.
“What motivated me is the reason that we have few schools despite the fact that council planned for more schools but those areas that we left for building schools were invaded by illegal settlers”
He added that besides building ECD blocks, he is drilling more boreholes to reduce the walking distance to water points in areas not accessing reticulated water.
He has plans to construct an all weather multipurpose sports courts at the Budiriro Community Hall.
